Garrett Asher is one of the founding members of Surber, Asher, Surber and Moushon. Prior to the formation of Surber Asher, Mr. Asher was a partner in a larger state-wide litigation defense firm. Mr. Asher’s experience includes over 25 years of litigation. He has served as lead counsel in cases involving professional negligence, products liability, premises liability, insurance defense, and defense of professionals in disputes with state licensure organizations. Mr. Asher regularly appears before state agencies in contested matters advocating on behalf of his clients, whether they are individuals defending against discipline initiated by a governmental entity or corporations fighting to allow outdoor advertising and billboards in an area. He has represented over 200 individuals and companies in licensure disputes with Tennessee Boards and regulatory bodies. Mr. Asher has extensive experience in state and federal trial and appellate courts and has served as lead counsel on two separate cases before the Tennessee Supreme Court. Mr. Asher has also submitted Amicus briefs on behalf of the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association with the Tennessee Supreme Court. Mr. Asher’s unique training and life experiences have had positive impacts on his practice and outcomes for clients. Specifically, Mr. Asher’s background and experience as a registered nurse has proved invaluable in medical malpractice and medical professional licensure litigation. Mr. Asher has served as a consultant for the Tennessee Nurses Association and frequently advises professionals on disciplinary matters. Mr. Asher was elected by his peers as a member of the Nashville Bar Foundation. He also is a Fellow of The American Association of Nurse Attorneys.

Personal
A native Nashvillian, Mr. Asher attended high school at Montgomery Bell Academy and maintains close ties with the local community. He has served on the boards of the West End Synagogue and Akiva school. He presently serves on the board of Renewed, The Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee. Mr. Asher has been active in the Tennessee Bar Association, having served as the Chair of the Section of Litigation for two years. Mr. Asher has had articles published in the Tennessee Law Review, Litigation Letter, OR Nurse, and Nursing Management. Mr. Asher is a frequent speaker within the legal and medical community. He has led multiple continuing legal education seminars, speaking on topics ranging from proving injuries during trial to working with experts effectively. Mr. Asher also has served as a guest lecturer at the Vanderbilt University College of Law, Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, and the Tennessee Technical College system. In his free time, when not with his family, Mr. Asher enjoys competing in long distance running, cycling, and triathlon events. Mr. Asher has completed multiple marathons and long course triathlons.
